Mermaid Swimming at Gay Swim Amsterdam
Since the first mermaid clinic in 2023 and the spectacular demonstration during LoveSwim 2025, one thing has become clear: mermaid swimming is alive within Gay Swim Amsterdam. More and more members indicate that they want to be involved more often – for fun, creativity, and a sporting challenge.
Graceful, strong & spectacular
Gay Swim Amsterdam now has an enthusiastic and diverse group of mermaid swimmers (he/she/they) active. Starting in 2026, they will organize monthly mermaid training in a separate lane during our regular training hours. Whether you have experience or are just starting: you are welcome to join.
In addition, we are building towards a new and even larger mermaid demonstration during LoveSwim 2026. In the lead-up to this, we will reserve a half pool three to four times to train together for a new mermaid show. With World Pride on the horizon, this performance will have an extra festive and international flair.
Want to join? You can do it your way
During all sessions, there is guidance from experienced members with knowledge of mermaid swimming and safety. Training schedules are used, but participation in them is not mandatory. Also, members who just want to try it out or participate occasionally are warmly welcomed.
Sign up with the organizers in the mermaid lane during one of the training hours below. With a lot of interest, we will split the group in the first and second half hour, so everyone has space.
Not yet a member of Gay Swim Amsterdam? You can sign up to come and try swimming and experience for yourself what it is like to move through the water as a mermaid. At GSA, you also work on your general swimming technique – a nice and valuable foundation that goes perfectly with mermaid swimming.
